Verizon Motorola Droid Razr HD gets a leaked Jelly Bean build Droidrazrhd-300x236

When Motorola unveiled the Droid Razr HD back in September alongside the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx HD and Motorola Droid Razr M as the new triumvirate of Droid Razr devices, the manufacturer confirmed that the handset will get cranked up to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean before the year ends. With that confirmation, a lot of our smartphone-crazed brethren thought that Motorola is already in the process of testing the Jelly Bean update for the handset to get it ready for a year-end rollout but sad to say, there has been no news about the Android 4.1 refresh for the Motorola Droid Razr HD until now.

The Motorola Droid Razr HD is on sale for a reduced price at select online retailers now starting at 149.99.

If you happen to rock a Motorola Droid Razr HD from Verizon and have the guts and technical know-how to tinker with your handset, you can already give your handset a taste of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean – unofficially, of course. As it stands, a Jelly Bean leaked build for the Motorola Droid Razr HD has already surfaced and the more adventurous among us could take this for a spin and see how the handset handles Jelly Bean.

The leaked build has a version of 9.1.39Xt926.verizon.en.us but one thing of note here is that it is a non-official build and comes with the typical bevy of warnings such as the fact that if you take the plunge and flash it onto your Motorola Droid Razr HD, there is a big chance that you may end up getting stuck on this build for the time being with no possible way of going back to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Although it has been confirmed that the build is fast and fluid, it still is full of bugs as is expected with leaked non-official builds like this.

There is no need for your handset to be rooted if you are interested in flashing this build onto your Motorola Droid Razr HD 4G but your device should be running a stock ROM. The build can be side-loaded as well and in the case that your handset is already rooted, you’ll need OTA RootKeeper to ensure that you keep your root access on your Motorola Droid Razr HD. Again, let us remind everybody who want to take this for a spin that tinkering with your device is the surest way to saying goodbye to your warranty not to mention the fact that you could end up with a brick if you mess up along the way.

As for the Motorola Droid Razr HD, the handset’s circuitry is built around its QualComm MSM8960 SnapDragon chipset and this SoC brings to the table a dual-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor and a full gigabyte of RAM. Storage space on the handset is pegged at 16GB with the option to have this expanded using the microSD card slot of the device. As for its display, the Motorola Droid Razr HD sports a 4.7-inch SuperAMOLED panel with a 1280 x 720 resolution while its dual-shooter configuration includes a rear 8MP shooter and a front 1.3MP snapper.
